Wire Jewelry
Aloha everyone!
I just started with wire working and making jewelry yesterday - what fun! I made about 10 pair of earrings, minus the hooks which i neglected to buy since i wasn't sure what I was making to begin with. This is the first time I have ever played with wire or making jewelry (if you don't count the fabric necklace i made for a show once). I think they came out really well - i posted pictures on my travel blog at http://wanderingunicorn.blogspot.com if you wanted to check them out.
Does anyone else do wire working or jewelry making with wire? I seem to recall buying a necklace years ago (that I still have and wear to events) that someone in Confed had made that has coiled and spiraled copper wire on it, but I can't recall who made it.
So excited to go get more materials today!!

Wire Jewelry and earring hooks
I make my own ear wires out of hard or half hard round sterling. I guess 20 gauge or so. They're not hard to do at all, and you can make them with twists and figure eights and other neat little doodles to match the earrings.
One of these days, I need to borrow my husband's camera and take pictures so I can post some of my work. (or get my own camera)
by the way - I've found that Argentium Sterling gives me less of an allergic reaction than regular sterling does. I've got a nickel allergy, and Argentium hasn't got as much (or any?) Nickel in it. It also doesn't tarnish as quickly as regular sterling.

Re: Wire Jewelry
yeah, i've heard a lot about that other silver too lately. i haven't seen anywhere locally to get it but i'll keep my eye out for it and price it if i see it when ordering gemstones.
i'm hoping to do an order to Firemountain Gemstones sometime in the next week.
I've yet to make my own earwires - it's so easy to buy them! lol. but i'm sure that i will get to that very soon to make some more interesting wires than those available at the shop.
