so where do we stand on scrolls anyway?
i had talked to morwen about doing scrolls about 6 months ago and she was going to have me do two for nanzydon but i couldn't get any of the pertinant info on them so nothing came of it.
it would be nice if we could eventually get caught up enough to present scrolls when people are inducted into orders and so forth. i don't know who all actually does the scrolls though. so you can count me in for one.

ps. being the newbie, sorry if i ask a million questions, i just want to have an idea of what's going on or been discussed or in the works or whathaveyou. oh, and sorry, i rarely capitolize words, and i make spelling mistakes and will try to run spellcheck when i can. bad sophie.

Re: Scroll Status
My understanding is that where we stand on scrolls is "disorganized".
If that's wrong I'd love to hear it.
I think this is one of the first things we, as an order, need to straighten out.
We may want to think about having a separate person who has the job of organizing and keeping track of scrolls and scroll assignments - that's how most SCA baronies and kingdoms do it. That person would probably be a Thistle, but it would clear up the line of responsibility.
For that matter - other than tradition - I'd venture that it might be reasonable to have that person answer to the servants, or the household directly as "Scroll Officer" (it could have a prettier name) rather than being organized within the Thistles.
Thoughts?

We can arrange a spanking for Bad Sophie later.
But I'm SURE that's not Thistle business. Officially, anyway.

depends on how artfully it's done? LOL
Well, Morwen has been a bit busy with mundania lately, but I can give her a shout and see if she'd relinquish the info to me in regards to who's got scrolls yet to go, who's volunteered to do some.
We used to get scrolls to people when they got their award, sometimes. But it takes a lot of pre-planning on the part of the Orders, and usually nobody is that far ahead of the game. To be honest, I used to spend an awful lot of the first part of Pennsic making scrolls, and I know Ellespeth did too. Much as I'd like to be able to give scrolls to folks at the time, I'm not sure it is feasible.
Best, really, to actually give the scrolls somewhere other than War, anyway, what with drippy tents etc. No point in delivering it, just to have it get wet before it gets home.
ok, as to somebody in charge of all of that... leads us to another discussion, I think.

I've emailed Morwen already. She told me that she'd send me the files but she also passed the job off to a volunteer here in the house.

Yes. That would be Maddog.
She also emailed me the list so I have it as well.

It might be really easy to do things like keeping track of and assigning scrolls if the list were posted, say... here!
What does everybody else think?
After having listed all the Thistles from the 2007 Domesday, I note that Maddog isn't on the list. Which would make it hard for him to post the list of scroll makers / assignments here! ooops...
Deirdre - what do you think? Should we do that thing, or should we leave it up to Maddog? Since he's the happy volunteer...
Which brings me to another potential Thistle!!!
I guess that goes over on the boring business bits section, doesn't it?
