Are there formal devices/symbols for any of our orders?

ummm.... no?

Not like the ones for the Kingdom level or what have you.

Well, there are the symbols we put on the old medallions, back when we had medallions, and they appeared on a number of the early scrolls, I'm thinking.

So, sort of yes?

wow, i've never seen these medallions - anyone have a pic of them? when did these stop?

I know I made a few medallions, I've forgotten who else did (besides the cast ones that Gilchrist did, which are linked to from our web-page)

The ones I made were painted with model paint (Kryon?). the thistles, so far as I can remember, were just thistles. Not unlike the one the cat's holding up above (you inspired me, Sophie! yeah, I know I promised no moderation... but does administration count if it's just adding a cool pic????)

Anyway, as for scroll decoration, I know all I pretty much did was put a stylized thistle on the thistle scrolls, a wren on the wrens, etc. Those of celtic persuasion got celtic style thingys, Izumi got oriental. (Poor Izumi - what a fiasco that was!!! ) And I'm horrendously happy with the cat scroll Morwen did for me - the Cat was Bill (from Bloom County) very obviously going "Ack!"

So in answer to your question, Sophie, pretty much anything goes!

not having done blackwork before, how difficult would it be to do mountains and cat? Since you're right, just the cat might be construed as the Cat Order, but just mountains doesn't exactly make me think of Confed...
