Quick Thoughts
Confed Merchant Stand
Hi all.
There was some chit-chat a few wars back about members of confed getting together and trying to have a joint merchant stand to sell their crafts. Since I've been making jewelry, I would like to sell it at war if i could get in to get a stand, but wouldn't want to spend all of my time alone in the merchant area, so i'm bringing it up with a thought towards not this war, but perhaps the following.
I know there are a number of talented artisans and craftspersons in our household and most of them are here so I thought it appropriate to start the topic in this forum.
Scadian-geared jewelry, soaps, simple or complicated garb, glassworks, decorative scrolls, yarned or woven items, armor bits & weapons, woodworking, fiber arts, knitted socks, embroidered trinkets, etc.
If we had 7 or so committed people who would be interested in selling at a merchant tent, the time could be split evenly between all of us that we could each work only three 1/2-day shifts or so. that way we could arrange it for fighters to still fight, waterbearers to be on the field, and enjoy parties and shopping and noone would be burdened to sit all day everyday.
PLUS this would realy be a strength for our household. We are known largely, by anyone, as a mercenary/fighting household. And while we are, we are more than that as well. Not only can we hit people well, we are also extremely creative and talented. A Confed shop would be a another honorable way for many of us to participate in our household and it's glory - because we're that good!
Looking for serious feedback on yea or nay, or if you'd be interested or not. The only way this would work is if enough people where committed to participating and not the whole 'good idea' but no follow through that can happen from time to time. I would like some real feedback before putting in all the time and effort to figure out the particulars and registration and so forth, as i know that that is a whole other tricky facet to this idea.
We all have so many strengths, it would be great to share them with the known world, while helping out our household.

I've added a poll but would appreciate text format. and of course, I voted for participating
Lol. Being that I bought it up and all....

Re: Confed Merchant Stand
I merchanted at war a few times - sometimes with Silver (that's a guy), sometimes on my own as a blanket merchant, and most often w/ Beth and TJ. They ran a booth for ages, and those of us who sold thing under their auspices sometimes were persuaded to take a turn at the booth.
I think it is a good idea, but from experience, I think Beth might say that it is a lot of hard work, and not enough help. Not that I think you should give up the idea, but getting the help up front would be best - and as you know, it is hard enough to get gate guards!
Beth might know more how to get through the merchanting rules - I think there are hoops.
